Now that we are well into the year 2009, it is a great time to reevaluate your web site. Here are a few “resolutions” for 2009 in improving your site.
- Do a complete SEO site audit.
Take a look at things like your home page – does it convey your message and highlight the most important aspects of your organization? Go over the most important pages of your site, such as the product pages and the about us section. Or you can keep it simple by doing something as minimal as editing your site to have more “<h1>” “<h2>” and “<h3>” tags, you will be amazed at the difference it will make!
- Research!
If your products or services have changed so should your keywords. What new phrases should you change, add, or omit? SEO is an ongoing process, researching and evaluating your keywords is a commitment for the entire year – but you have to start some time why not now?!
- Content overhaul
Now is the time to take a look at your site and freshen up the content. If you have a large site this task may seem overwhelming. The best thing to do is set an hour or two a week aside and start with one section at a time. You can even multi-task and revamp your keywords and “<h1>” tags at the same time.
- Incoming!
Try to get a number of new links from respectable sources linking to your site. Remember these should be sites that have some relevance to what your site is about. There are many ways to do this such as: guest blogging, social media, and generating media. Getting those links to your home page is great, but what is even better is to have them linked to a sub page – such as a particular product or service that you offer.
These are just a few little things that you resolve to do in 2009 for your web site. If your site needs a complete overhaul you can always contact us!
The Concord Young Professionals Network (CYPN) is a professional and personal development initiative of the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce. Their web site offers a wealth of information on the organization and its upcoming events. J Maze Design created an easy-to-use Content Management System back-end that allows multiple users the ability to update specific sections of the site to keep content current. CYPN is driven by a web of volunteers with diverse backgrounds and this ability was crucial to the design of the site and will be an asset as the organization moves forward with its goals.
