Recently I had a client tell me that they had worked with a company that was adamant about having their web sites 900 pixels wide. They were told that Google would not crawl sites that weren't. Hmmm.... I thought this was very odd, so I did some investigating and found nothing about this at all - another crazy rumor. I really have no idea where this may have come from or even why. First I don't see how on earth Google would care how wide the web site is, and secondly it is just bad web design to have a set width of 900 pixels. Can you say horizontal scroll? This is a real no-no in web design. So I thought I would post this so that others that may have been given the same advice can decide whether or not to ignore it - my suggestion is that you do.
The Concord Young Professionals Network (CYPN) is a professional and personal development initiative of the Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce. Their web site offers a wealth of information on the organization and its upcoming events. J Maze Design created an easy-to-use Content Management System back-end that allows multiple users the ability to update specific sections of the site to keep content current. CYPN is driven by a web of volunteers with diverse backgrounds and this ability was crucial to the design of the site and will be an asset as the organization moves forward with its goals.
